Q Discussion Topic Most people think in categories of “this life” and “the life to come.” In the Gospel of John, Jesus says,“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24). How does this claim impact how you think about this life and the life to come?

Hi Professor & Classmates, In John 5:24, Jesus states that there are two types of people: those who have eternal life and those who are spiritually dead and awaiting judgment. The difference between these two groups is that those who have life have heard Jesus' words and believe in the One who sent Him, while those who do not have life have not. Jesus continues. Some of you could be considered half-dead, but technically, you're still alive! Everyone is either spiritually dead or spiritually alive, which is true both physically and spiritually. There is no such thing as a middle ground (John 5:24, 2013).
